Press Release - Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2023

The Consulate General of India, Guangzhou organized an event to celebrate the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas at the premises of the Consulate on 9 January 2023. The event was attended by enthusiastic Indian Diaspora, Consulate officials as well as their family members.

2. The event began with welcome remarks by Consul General which was followed by live streaming of the Keynote Address by Ambassador H.E. Pradeep Kumar Rawat from Embassy of India, Beijing. Remarks made by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi during the inaugural session of the 17th PBD in Indore, Madhya Pradesh were also screened during the event.

3. Selected prominent Members of Indian Diaspora delivered remarks during the event and extended warm greetings on the occasion of 17th PBD 2023. This was followed by a lively folk dance performance by a 7 year old artist on a Garhwali song. A local Chinese artist and an Indian classical dance enthusiast also gave a graceful Kathak performance at the occasion.

4. As a tribute to the Diaspora Members for extending their cooperation and showing keen interest in the events organized by the Consulate, a video compilation of the events organized by the Consulate with contribution of Indian Diaspora members during the past one year was shown during the event. A short documentary about the host of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention, Madhya Pradesh, was also screened during the event. Consul General Shri Shambhu Hakki and Mrs Suma Hakki felicitated the artists.
