Press Release: Celebrations of World Hindi Day & Workshop to teach Hindi Songs (29 March 2023):
 

Consulate General of India, Guangzhou organized the celebrations of Vishwa Hindi Diwas 2023 on 29 March 2023 at the premises of the Consulate. The event saw a huge participation of students from Hindi Department of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) and students of Centre for Indian Studies, Shenzhen University.

2.Consul General Shri Shambhu Hakki addressed the gathering and delivered the Keynote Address during the event. In his Address, Consul General talked about the importance of learning Hindi as well the purpose of celebrating Vishwa Hindi Diwas every year. This was followed by speech on the development of Hindi by Prof Yu Longyu, Director, Center for Indian Studies, Shenzhen University. Prof Tian Keping, Head of Hindi Department of GDUFS gave a speech on the topic ‘विभिन्‍न भारत विभिन्‍न चीनियों की आंखों में’.

3.The event saw a bouquet of cultural peformances and poetry recitals by the students from Hindi Department of GDUFS. Professor and students from the Centre for Indian Studies, Shenzhen University also gave a musical performance of Hindi songs during the event.

4.The Consulate General of India, Guangzhou had organized a ‘Singing Competition of Hindi Songs’ as part of the celebrations of World Hindi Day on 21 March 2023. The winners of the singing competition also gave performances on Hindi songs during the event.

5.The event concluded with distribution of prizes to the winners of ‘Singing Competition of Hindi Songs’ as well as distribution of certificates to the participants of the singing competition as well as the cultural performers of the World Hindi Day celebrations.

6.As part of the celebrations of World Hindi Day, Consulate General of India, Guangzhou had also organized a Workshop to teach Hindi songs to the students of Hindi Department of GDUFS and Friends of India as Hindi as a language is popular in China due to the admiration of Chinese people for Indian movies, Bollywood songs and Indian cuisine.

7.To promote Hindi, a workshop on Hindi songs was also conducted. During the workshop, the participants were taught about the correct pronunciation as well as melody of singing the classic Hindi songs. The students from the workshop also volunteered to perform the Hindi songs learnt during the workshop.

8.As part of the celebrations of World Hindi Day, Consulate General of India, Guangzhou will also be organizing a Workshop to teach patriotic songs to Indian Diaspora.
