Attestation of Documents

General Instructions

1). Applicant should be a resident of the consular jurisdiction of EOI, Beijing/CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhou.

2). The documents originated under area of jurisdiction of EoI Beijing in China will be attested only after its authentication by Legalization Department of Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, China or Consular Departments of Foreign Affairs Offices in the respective provincial capital.

Similarly, the documents originated under area of jurisdiction of CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhou in China, will be attested only after each of this is separately authenticated by Legalization Department of Department of Consular Affairs, Foreign Affairs Office in the respective provincial capital.

3). Indian documents for attestation (Marriage/ Birth/Death, Education certificates etc.) must be authenticated/attested by MEA, Patiala House, New Delhi/Branch Secretariats/RPOs as per the details given at https://www.mea.gov.in/apostille.htm . Name of the applicant and his/her parent’s name in the marriage/birth certificate should be as per his/her passport.

4). The documents issued in foreign countries (Other than India and China) must be authenticated by Indian Embassy/High Commission/Consulates in that country before attestation by EoI Beijing/CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhou.

5). For attestation of documents of passport holders of other countries, which originated in China, document should be attested by the respective country’s Embassy/Consulate in China after attestation by Consular Department of Department of General Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China or the respective Consular Department of the Foreign Affairs Office in the respective provincial capital, before its submission to Indian Embassy/Consulate for attestation.

6). All original documents (including passport) are to be submitted for verification and it will be returned thereafter.

7). Documents submitted for attestation to the Consular Section of Embassy of India, Beijing/CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhou will be attested with a stamp which would state ‘Seen in the Embassy/Consulate not responsible for the contents’.

Attestation of Affidavit/Power of Attorney/Marriage Certificate/Birth Certificate/No criminal Record issued by PSB etc.

Documents required

1. Document (to be attested) along with one copy of the same

2. Copy of 1st and last page of the applicant’s passport as well as copy of the valid Chinese visa page.

3. For Employed persons: - Employer certificate (latest) mentioning the passport no and place of residence.

4. For Students: - Copy of Student Id card (If in Chinese, self-translation with signature will suffice).

EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTS ATTESTATION

Documents required

1. Document (to be attested) (each of these separately authenticated by Legalization Department of Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing or the Consular Departments of Foreign Affairs Offices in the respective provincial capital).

2. One photocopy each of the documents to be attested.

3. Copy of 1st and last page of the applicant’s passport along with valid Chinese visa page.

4. Copy of Student Id card (If in Chinese, self-translation with signature will suffice).

5. For Employed persons: - Employer certificate (latest) mentioning the passport number and place of residence.

TRADE DOCUMENT ATTESTATION

1) All Trade documents which originated under area of jurisdiction of EoI Beijing/CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhou in China will be accepted only through Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China after their authentication & NOT directly at the Embassy of India, Beijing/CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhou.

2) After attestation in the Embassy/Consulate, the same will be returned back to the MFA/FAO. So the applicant may collect their documents from MFA/FAO only.

Documents required

1) Documents (in original) to be attested along with a copy of that for retention for record.

2) Proforma as required by Commercial section of the Embassy/CGI Shanghai/CGI Guangzhou.
