Revised instructions about re-issuance of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards due to requirement of new card being issued on completion of 20 years of age
i) The mandatory requirement of Overseas Citizen of India Cardholder registration to be get re-issued each time a new passport is issued up to the age of 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age in view of biological changes in the face of the applicant has been discontinued with.
ii) Now the applicant is only required to upload online copy of the new passport and a latest photo each time a new passport is issued upto 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age. Uploading of documents is needed to be done within three month after the receipt of new passport. The services are on gratis basis.
iii) Now the OCI cardholder is required to get his OCI card reissued only once on completion of 20 years of age.
iv) Foreign Spouse of an Indian Citizen or spouse of foreign origin of an OCI cardholder are required to upload a copy of the new passport and also a latest photo ONLINE each time a new passport is issued along with a declaration on subsisting of marriage, copy of the Indian passport of the Indian spouse / passport & OCI card of the OCI cardholder spouse.
v) a) Time line for re-issuance of OCI card in r/o OCI cardholders who may be required to get their OCI card reissued has been extended till 31 December 2022.
b) The cardholders will be allowed to travel on the basis of their existing OCI cards bearing old passport number. The OCI Cardholder may travel with the new passport and is no longer required to carry the old passport.
