The 76th Independence Day of India was celebrated in Guangzhou with a flag-hoisting ceremony on 15 August, 2022 at the Consulate General of India. More than 150 members of the Indian community and Consulate officials joined the celebrations.
Consul General Shambhu Hakki, unfurled the tricolor, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. Consul General also read out the Address by the Hon'ble President of India on the eve of Independence Day, and addressed the gathering.
Shri Hakki also threw light on the major cultural and consular programmes that were undertaken by the Consulate in the past few months, such as Bythak & Manch cultural initiatives, bollywood dance class, yoga events, consular camps, etc.
The celebrations saw enthusiastic participation from Indian diaspora and local Chinese artists who presented a bouquet of cultural performances. The children presented patriotic dances & poem recitations. The event also saw performances of classical Kathak dances & singing of classical music by Indian diaspora members. The song & video of ‘Sabse Pyara Desh Mera’ composed and rendered by Consul General Shri Shambhu Hakki to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s independence was also played on the occasion.
The event ended with felicitation of the performers with distribution of certificates by Consul General.
