Consulate General of India organized a virtual briefing on the Indian Budget 2022-23 for Indian Businesses and Indian Community members in South China.

2. Consul General Mr Shambhu Hakki presented the Keynote Address titled “A Transformative and Visionary Budget 2022-23” highlighting the major reforms undertaken by the Government of India towards building Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

3. This was followed by a presentation titled “The State of the Indian Economy” showcasing the recovery and reboot of the Indian Economy to pre-pandemic levels by Consul (Commercial). Thereafter, apresentationregarding the Taxationreforms waspresented byConsul(Economic).

4. Indian business and diaspora leaders presented their views on topics such as Infrastructure- A Big Push, Education-Skilling Young India, Startups and Unicorns- Making India a Land of Innovation and Promoting Trade and Investment in India. Theyalso touched upon various initiatives such as PM GatiShakti, Smart Cities, Data Centres, Digital Healthcare, Micro-Small-Medium Enterprises, growth of Unicorns in the country, Long Term Capital Gains Tax and C-PACE.Indian business leaders lauded the massive infrastructure development undertaking that will encompass the ‘four engines’ of growth, namely: roads, railways, mass transport, seamless multi-modal connectivity.

5. Indian tech entrepreneurs based in South China highlighted initiatives such as Digital Currency, Kisan drones, Battery Swapping policy and increased allocation toStartUp India Seed Fund. A diaspora member working in the education sector highlighted the novelty of One Class-One TV channel E-learning technique, Digital Universities, PM Poshan Scheme, Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States Program (STARS), among others.
