"Recreate the magic of 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara'

As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and to celebrate the unity in diversity among the Indian Diaspora in South China, the Consulate General of India, Guangzhou is planning to bring out a video of the famous 1980s song 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara' featuring some Indian Diaspora members based in South China.

2. This initiative is also a part of the run-up to commemorate the celebrations of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (8-10 January 2023) and Republic Day (26 January 2023).

3. The classic song "Ek Sur" (transl. One tune) or "Mile Sur Mera Tumhara" (transl. As the tune matches, mine and yours) was sung in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Mile Sur was telecast for the first time on Independence Day in 1988.
