Celebrations of the 74th Republic Day of India:
 
​The 74th Republic Day of India was celebrated in Guangzhou with a flag-hoisting ceremony on 26th January, 2023 at the Consulate General of India. The celebrations were attended by more than 100 members of Indian Diaspora, Friends of India, Consulate officials and their family members.

2.​Consul General Shambhu Hakki, unfurled the tricolor, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. He also read out the Address by the Hon'ble President of India on the eve of Republic Day.

3.​In his remarks to the community, Consul General complimented them for their work in promoting Indian culture and arts in South China . He also threw light on the major cultural and consular programmes that were undertaken by the Consulate in the past one year, such as the cultural initiatives Bythak & Manch, Bollywood and Indian Classical dance workshops, Yoga events, Consular Camps, etc. Consular General also mentioned some aspects of the events being planned by the Consulate to include the Diaspora members in cultural activities as part of the Jan-Bhagidari.

4.​As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada (1-15 January 2023), Consulate General of India, Guangzhou had organized a Painting Competition on the theme ‘Importance of Swachhata’  for the children to spread the importance of Swachhata in young generation on 13 January. The winners and participants of the Painting Competition were also felicitated during the celebrations of the 74th Republic Day of India.

5.​The celebrations saw enthusiastic participation from Indian diaspora and local Chinese artists who presented a bouquet of performances on patriotic songs and dances as well as Indian classical dances.

6.​The event concluded with felicitation of the cultural performers as well as winners and participants of the Swachhata Painting Competition by Consul General Shri Shambhu Hakki and Mrs Suma Hakki.

7.​As part of the celebrations of International Year of Millets in 2023, two dishes ‘Millets Upma’ and ‘Ragi Idli’ were also served as part of the refreshments.
