India-China Business Seminar, Shenzhen, 23 March 2018

 

Consulate General of India, Guangzhou in association with Embassy of India, Beijing organized an India-China Business Seminar –Investment Opportunities in Electronics Sector on 23 March 2018 in Shenzhen. The event was organized to coincide with Secretary, MEITY visit to China (18-24 March 2018). The event was supported by CCPIT, Shenzhen, ICA, ELCINA and the Electronics Industries Association, Shenzhen. 

 

Welcoming the audience, Consul General Shri Salias Thangal spoke of the immense potential for cooperation between Chinese and Indian enterprises and welcomed the Chinese enterprises to invest in India. Mr Ye Jiande, President, CCPIT, Shenzhen and Mr Amit Narang, DCM, Embassy of India, Beijing also addressed the audience.

 

Mr Ajay Sawhney, Secretary, MEITY, delivered the key note address and made a strong push for the entire electronics and Smartphone manufacturing ecosystem to invest in India and start manufacturing in India capitalizing on the new incentives introduced under the Phased Manufacturing Plan of the Government of India.

 

Detailed presentations on the electronics industry in India and the legal framework for investing in India along with the relevant tax policies and incentives were made. Ms Li Can a from Huawei India shared the experience of Huawei of investing in India. Various delegates from state governments and industry were introduced at the event.

 

The event received an overwhelming response with more than 400 top management officials of Chinese enterprises working in various streams of the value chain in electronics and Smartphone industry attended the event. Owing to the presence of a huge contingent of Chinese and Indian enterprises and government representatives at the seminar, the event provided a great opportunity by bringing all the stakeholders under one roof and facilitating B2B interactions. The seminar ended with a Q&A session where pertinent questions raised by the participants were answered by the panelists.
