The Consulate General of India, Guangzhou celebrated International Women’s Day 2024 at its premises on 8 March 2024.
2. Keeping in mind the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day- ‘Inspire Inclusion’, the Consulate organized an event to honour and celebrate the indomitable spirit of Indian women achievers. Consul General Shri Shambhu Hakki, along with Consulate officials and Friends of India attended the event.
3. During the event, Consul General Shri Shambhu Hakki inaugurated a Special Exhibition curated by the Consulate as a tribute to the ‘Inspiring Indian Women’. Consul General also delivered welcome remarks shedding light on the significance of International Women’s Day. In his remarks, he also highlighted the role of Indian women and their remarkable contributions across diverse fields, challenging norms and excelling in their respective domains. Consul General also appreciated the role of women officials and staff at the Consulate during the event.
4. The event also featured the screening of the biographical sports film ‘Mary Kom’, based on the life of the renowned Indian boxer, Mary Kom. The movie was screened in Hindi with Chinese subtitles to cater to the local audience.
5. The Consulate has also initiated a social media campaign on the inspiring stories of women achievers across various fields such as sports, science & technology, environment to name a few. These inspiring stories are regularly shared on the Consulate’s social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, as well as the local Chinese platforms like Weibo and WeChat.
