Opening of Condolence Book at the Consulate

Government of India announces with profound sorrow the death of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India at 1945 hours on 27 July 2015 at Bethany Hospital, Shillong. The funeral will be held at Rameshwaram on 29 July 2015.

2.         Born on 15 October 1931 at Rameshwaramin Tamilnadu, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam served as the President of the Republic of India from 25 July 2002 to 25 July 2007. Before becoming President, Dr.Kalam served in several capacities including as Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India in the rank of Cabinet Minister. From a humble beginning, Dr. Kalam had an unparalleled career as an aerospace and defence scientist, leading the nation with a vision of "Developed India."

3.         As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, a Condolence Book will be opened at the Consulate (Address : 14th Fl., HNA Tower, No. 8, Linhe Zhong Lu, Tianhe District, Guangzhou) on the following dates :

Wednesday, 29th July 1000-1200 hrs & 1430-1630 hrs
Thursday, 30th July  1000-1200 hrs & 1430-1630 hrs
