As part of celebrations to mark the 69th Republic Day of India, Consulate General of India in Guangzhou and local Indian Community organized the Third Edition of ‘The Great Indian Mela’ at the sprawling campus of American International School of Guangzhou on 27th January, 2018. After the highly successful two editions of this signature events held in 2016 and 2017, the Consulate has made this event an annual fair to showcase India’s rich culture, diversity, art and craft, touristic destinations of States, handicraft and high-end textiles, cuisines with continuous performance on stage of Indian dance and yoga shows. More than 2500 people from all walks of life including senior officials from Foreign Affairs, Department of Culture, Tourism Administration and local Guangzhou municipality, diplomatic corps, members of the Indian community not only from Guangzhou but also nearby areas such as Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Foshan etc participated wholeheartedly.
