Consulate General of India, Guangzhou organised an outreach event ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ – an open house interaction of Indian students in South China with Consul General Shri Shambhu Hakki on 18 March 2023. The event was attended by over 80 Indian Students in South China.

2. During the event, Consul General welcomed the students and delivered the keynote address. In his address, Consul General apprised the students about the positive developments that are taking place in India, as well as informed the students about the Consular services provided by the Consulate such as postal services, appointment system, 24X7 emergency helpline number. Apart from this Consul General also informed the students about the cultural activities that are regularly organized by the Consulate and also encouraged the students to participate in various AKAM related activities.

3. During the interactive session, Consul General answered questions from the students as well as shared deep insights with them regarding the cultural linkages between India and China such as Buddhism, Yoga and Ayurveda. Consul General also shared some aspects of the role of the Consulates such as about Public Diplomacy, the role of creating awareness about Indian culture and products abroad. There were also interactions about technology, artificial intelligence and IoTs among other topics.

4. The event also featured a ‘Talent Show’ by the Indian students, including poem recitals and musical performances. The event concluded with the students sharing their pre-covid pandemic and post-covid pandemic experiences in Guangzhou.
