India-China (Sanya) Tourism Exchange Seminar

Consulate organizes 'India-China (Sanya) Tourism Exchange Seminar' in Sanya Consulate General of India in Guangzhou organised a seminar titled "India-China (Sanya) Tourism Exchange Seminar" in Sanya, Hainan on Thursday, October 26, 2017. The seminar was one among a series of events organized as part of the continued efforts of Consulate General of India in Guangzhou to create awareness and publicize Indian tourism in China. It was held to coincide with a 3-day Global Yoga Exchange Conference 2017 being organized in Sanya where many prominent Indian Yoga Gurus are taking part.
The seminar was attended by senior officials from Sanya Municipal Government comprising of Foreign Affairs office, Tourism Development Commission, Department of Culture etc., representatives of media organisations, business houses, distinguished personalities, academia,  around 150 travel agents from all over China, representatives from airlines such as Jet Airways and China Southern and also 19 leading Indian tour operators participating invited by Sanya Government.

Consulate General of India in Guangzhou, Mr. Y.K. Sailas Thangal, in his opening remarks gave an overview of India's rich heritage, history, culture and civilization. He gave them detailed information on India's wonderful touristic destinations, including magnificent architectural heritage, beaches, tropical islands, fauna & flora, hill stations, back water, temples and an array of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Consul General also informed them about India's strengths in luxury and hospitality sector, medical & wellness tourism as well as the spiritual tourism including that of Buddhist circuits. He urged the tour operators to prepare packages which enable Chinese travelers to experience India's rich and diverse cultural heritage.

The seminar also included presentations on touristic destinations in J&K, Gujarat, Rajasthan, North East, Kerala etc, Buddhist circuit, health and wellness tourism, culture, sector-wise opportunities available in India's booming tourism market, information on simplified visa procedures including eVisa scheme and B2B meetings.

China is currently world's top tourism source market for international tourism industry. In 2016, around 135 million Chinese travelled overseas. The Consulate General of India in Guangzhou recognizing the huge potential for attracting Chinese tourist to India has been very active on all front in promoting India and India as the tourism destination. As a result of these efforts, Consulate witnessed 42% increases in tourist flow from China to India in the year 2016 when compared to 2015.

Consulate will organize the next Know India Tourism Seminar in Kunming, Yunnan on 16th November, 2017.
