Indian Tea Promotion Event organized in Xiamen on 21 Oct 2018
Tea Board India led a delegation of around 20 Indian tea exporters to participate in Xiamen International Tea Industry Fair (Autumn Edition) which was held in Xiamen, China from 18-22 Oct 2018. Coinciding the visit, CGI Guangzhou & Tea Board India organized Indian Tea Promotion Seminar in Xiamen, China on 21 Oct 2018.
2. The event was organized in partnership with China Council for Promotion of Intercontinental Trade (CCPIT), Xiamen, China Tea Marketing Association, Xiamen Tea Association and Xiamen Tea Purchasing Platform. Over 70 Chinese business people related to tea industry and 10 local journalists participated in the event.
3. The audience was introduced to various Indian tea types like Darjeeling, Assam, Assam Orthodox, Kangra, Sikkim, Munnar, Nilgiri and Dooars-Tarai. Four varieties of teas, Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri and Sikkim were offered for tasting during the program. The presentations were followed by lively QnA on various topics about tea.
4. It is evident from the response to the event that there is great potential for Indian tea in Chinese market. Consulate General of India, Guangzhou will continue to work with Tea Board India, tea producers and exporters from India to promote Indian tea in China.
