Indian-China Trade and Investment Seminar, Xiamen
Consulate General of India, Guangzhou organized an India-China Trade and Investment Seminar on 07 March 2018 in Xiamen. The event was held on the sidelines of the Xiamen Stone Fair. The event was held in cooperation with FICCI, CDOS, CAPEXIL and CCPIT.
The event was well attended with participation from 80 Chinese and Indian enterprises. Capitalizing on the presence of a huge contingent of Chinese and Indian exhibitors at the Stone Fair, the seminar provided a great opportunity by bringing all the stakeholders under one roof and facilitating one-on-one interactions.
Welcoming the audience, Consul General Shri Salias Thangal spoke of the immense potential for cooperation between Chinese and Indian enterprises and welcomed the Chinese enterprises to invest in India. Chairman, CCPIT Xiamen, thanked the Consulate for taking this initiative and spoke of the huge interest among companies in Xiamen and Fujian towards investing in India.
Coming from India, Mr Ashok Kumar Dhoot, Vice Chairman, Centre for Development of Stones, gave a detailed presentation on the stone sector in India. Mr Veeramani, Vice Chairman, CAPEXIL, also spoke of the vibrant trade between Chinese and Indian businessmen in the sector.
A detailed presentation on the legal framework for investing in India along with the relevant tax policies and incentives was made. Mr Atul Dalakoti, Head, China Office, FICCI, made concluding remarks and summed up the event.
This was the first seminar held on the sidelines of the Xiamen Stone Fair and is a part of a series of events organized by the Consulate for promoting trade and investment between India and China. Investment seminars have also been planned to be held in Quanzhou and Shenzhen in March 2018.
