Constitution Day Celebrations on November 26, 2016

To commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Consulate General of India in Guangzhou celebrated ‘Constitution Day’ of India on November 26, 2016 at the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) auditorium. The event was attended by Prof Hu Rui, Director, South Asian Languages and Literature, Prof Wang Jinfeng, Hindi Professor, Prof Huang Yinghong, Sun-Yat-sen University, Prof Tian Keping, scholars and students. Consulate was represented by Consul General Sailas Thangal and other officials. Addressing the event CG stressed the important role played by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in framing Constitution of India and his efforts in giving solace to those in the lower strata of the society. Prof Huang Yinghong, a well-known scholar and an Indologist, delivered the keynote address on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Prof. Wang Jinfeng of GUDFS spoke on India-China relations. Consulate also organized essay competition on subjects related to India amongst the three university students in Guangzhou and Shenzhen and winners of the competition were announced at the function and prize money handed over to them.
